Chapter 2: She's Back

Shen Youran handed the paper and pen back to Xiao Cheng.
“I was the one who hit your car,” she said plainly. “My brother-in-law is Gu Jinchen, CEO of Gu Group. If there’s any issue, you can contact him. He’ll handle the compensation.”

Her tone was crisp and to the point—polite, yet with an air of calm arrogance. Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away.

Xiao Cheng had never encountered anything like this before. He glanced at the man sitting in the backseat through the rearview mirror.

The man’s face was expressionless, his jaw tense, and his deep, dark eyes carried a glint of displeasure.

Xiao Cheng hesitated. “President Ji…”

The entire scene had been witnessed from another car nearby. Behind the wheel sat none other than Xu Chengyan, the young master of the Xu family.

He stared at Shen Youran for several seconds, trying to confirm what he was seeing. Once he was sure it was her, he pulled out his phone, visibly excited.

Next to him in the passenger seat was a provocatively dressed woman. She leaned in flirtatiously, snatching the phone from his hand.
“Yan, who are you calling? You’re with me now,” she pouted.

Xu Chengyan, notorious for his playboy ways, changed women as easily as he changed clothes.

He was charming, with a naturally flirtatious air, and never stingy when it came to spending money on women. Many women were more than willing to be with him—even if it was just for a day.

That’s why his current companion refused to let her guard down. Who knew if he’d dump her tomorrow?

Seeing him try to make a call, she panicked. Every second spent with him counted—she couldn’t let another woman steal his attention.

But Xu Chengyan wasn’t in the mood to humor her today. He watched Shen Youran get into the car and turned toward the woman beside him.
“Give me the phone.”

His companion narrowed her eyes. “You know that woman?”

“Yeah, and I know her very well.” He grinned as he took back his phone and scrolled through his contacts until he found Gu Jinchen’s number. Just as he was about to dial, he paused.

If he wasn’t mistaken, the car Shen Youran had hit belonged to Ji Jinchuan.

After a moment’s thought, he instead called Parlin Hotel and booked a private room. Only then did he dial Gu Jinchen’s number.

Gu Jinchen was buried in documents when his phone rang. He put down his pen, glanced at the caller ID, and answered.
“What is it?”

From the other end came Xu Chengyan’s excited voice.
“Mr. Big CEO! Mr. Too-Busy-for-Anything! I just saw Shen Youran—she’s back!”

Gu Jinchen’s breath caught for a second. Right. Today was the day she returned.

He had deliberately avoided thinking about it, avoided asking anyone. He buried himself in work to numb everything else. But Xu Chengyan’s call dragged him back to reality.

He slowly closed the file in front of him.
“I see.”

“She’s barely off the plane and already landed you in trouble,” Xu Chengyan added gleefully.

Gu Jinchen said nothing, waiting for him to go on.

Without needing prompting, Xu Chengyan recounted the entire incident.

Gu Jinchen gave no visible reaction. He simply responded,
“I understand.”

Xu Chengyan was annoyed by how calm he sounded. He added pointedly,
“The car she hit belonged to Ji Jinchuan.”

In City A, everyone knew who Ji Jinchuan was.

He had entered the business world at twenty-two, and by twenty-four, taken over as CEO of Zhongsheng Group. A prodigy in the corporate arena.

His empire spanned multiple industries and had essentially monopolized City A’s economic lifelines.

Now, at only twenty-eight, his net worth was beyond calculation.

Anyone with sense in the business world knew Ji Jinchuan was ruthless, decisive, and not someone you wanted to provoke.
